KONTIKI TRAVEL S.R.L. offers travel services with minimal impact over the nature and wishes the increase of life’s quality within our community.Our company has a vision in compliance with the principles of the ECOTOURISM keeping at the same time a correct attitude against the employees and promoting the products of the local culture and tradition.

PLAN OF ACTIONS
1. The conservation of the natural resources and reducing the environmental impact
Reducing the water consumption
For the reducing of the water consumption we are planning to:
• use the valve pills and shower head with low flow;
• to use at the toilettes recipients with monitored water flow;
• to install showers in the bathrooms;
• using a reduced quantity of water when watering plants (drip water system in the solar and watering the plants especially in the morning and in the evening);
• collect rain water and use it in different quantities;
• take other limitation measures of the used quantity of water (we wash the garden during rain, we take the flowers from inside in the rain in order to wash their leaves);
• display warnings written in each bathroom for reducing the water consumption;
• encourage the clients to use the towels for more days;
• connecting all the tourist facilities at the town mains
Reducing the quantity of wastes and garbage
• buying the materials so as to avoid the packaging excess;
• trying as much as possible to use biodegradable packaging;
• using only reusable and biodegradable recipients (for instance cups);
• using disposable articles (tools and recipients) only on special situations (3-4 times a year during the outdoor celebrations;
• encouraging both the personnel and the tourists to participate in collection, recycling programs and reducing the quantity of wastes;
• collecting and removing all the garbage we meet;
• making compost from organic wastes;
• organizing and subsidizing (financing and manpower) cleaning days (at least once a year).
Reducing the consumption of energy
• using more than 90% warm fluorescent light, instead of incandescent light;
• the rooms will be naturally ventilated;
• during the day we shall use only natural light (as much as possible);
• the loss of heat through the windows and doors shall be reduced by adequate sealing, the use of the double windows made of wood with thermo systems;
• an employee trained in this respect will be responsible with the efficiency of the energy consumption;
• the heat will be produced and distributed through central installations with natural gas;
• electric equipments of class A of energy “energy efficient”;
• the buildings are built in proportion of 100%, 85%, 80% from wood;
• the tours and the trips will be planned so that they reduce the time and the travel distances (including the avoidance of the congested areas and peaks);
• we shall encourage the tourists to use the transport efficiently from the point of view of the fuel (for instance offering information concerning the public transport, providing bicycles to take), planning carts and carriages for certain visits;
• we shall encourage employees to walk ,to use the bicycle or the public transportation in order to come to work;
• all vehicles will be well maintained (technical inspection up to date);
• we’ll always purchase diesel means of transport;
• we shall use vehicles consuming 5,5 l /100 km
Reducing the impact over the air, soil and water
* The arrangements and the tourist activities did not bring to the remodeling of the land or complete elimination of the vegetation.
• We shall use fences, shrubs, barriers and other adequate signs for maintaining the traffic in the definite areas for the different categories of users;
• The wastes will be deposited only in special arranged places;
• The normal level of noise produced by the activities within the product (including telephones, transport operations, concerts, music, equipments and machines) will not significantly exceed the background noise of the area;
• The service and maintenance unities generating noise will be located at a certain distance from the quite areas, will be soundproofed and have an alternative program with the time when the tourists are on board.
• We shall offer the tourists the possibility to enjoy “the quietness of the nature”;
• There will not be annoying odors associated with the air pollutant emissions;
• The incineration of the wastes will be performed only controlled and not causing a visible degradation of the air.
2. The stimulation of the development of the local community by hiring personnel from the local communities and by promoting the culture and the local traditions.
The stimulation of the development of the local community community is performed through the following actions:
• we shall use the services of the local guides for the presentation of the significant local attractions and the systematic training of other guides;
• we shall use the services of other local native persons ( for instance personnel for the kitchen, transport, etc);
• we shall encourage the purchase of local products and gifts;
• we shall use other local services: boards, hiring bicycles, carts, carriages, sleighs, etc;
• we shall contribute, from the financial point of view, for the creation of the local infrastructure or local events (for instance festivals and other local traditional holidays), sponsoring the respective actions;
• we shall offer the possibility for practice to the students/young people living in the area, in order to acquire work experience in the area of ecotourism.
Promoting the culture and the local traditions:
• we communicate the tourists a code of conduct which must be adopted inside the local community;
• we shall present the tourists the local customs, encouraging them to participate to the traditional festivals;
• we shall offer especially only local traditional food;
• we shall purchase as much as possible local products: gifts, food, beverages etc.
3. Providing safe and quality services
• We shall perform a risk analysis containing the activities with an impact on the environment and over the work security in order to identify measures which should counteract these risks;
• in unpredictable situations, we shall designate a person responsible for the elimination as fast as possible the problem;
• the tourists will have a list with persons of contact in case of emergency comprising: fire protection service, administration of the natural area, lifeguard, hospital and others;
• all the employees of the company will have “security equipment” in case this is necessary;
• the correct use of the equipment will be explained by the company’s manager or by the qualified;
• at least one employee of the company will be trained with granting the first aid and will participate within the activities that require the granting of first aid. The first aid kit will be available at any moment and located in an easily accessible place.
4. The employees and the tourists enjoy the security both at the working place and at the performed activities.
• the company and all the employees will have insurances according to the category of activity they have;
• the participants within all the activities receive clear information concerning the insurances which are included in the company’s product.
